Nepal - we will not hesitate to take up arms...declare the left maoist

""We will not hesitate to take up arms if the authority tries to evict the current occupants of lands by force": the revolutionary faction of the
Maoist party.

GULARIYA, NOV 22 - The revolutionary faction of the UCPN (Maoist) led by Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya has warned of resistance against efforts made to return the properties seized by the party during the insurgency.

The warning comes a day after Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced in Bardiya to return the properties seized by the party to their previous owners.

We will not hesitate to take up arms if the authority tries to evict the current occupants by force, said a Baidya loyalist on Monday.
He also said they would recapture the land freed from the control of the tenant farmers and landless during the start of the peace process.

The Baidya camp is miffed with the decision of the establishment side to return the seized properties. They claimed that Chairman Dahal committed a grave mistake by announcing the return of the properties without addressing problems of freed bonded labourers, landless and tenant farmers.

Addressing a party meeting at Gulariya on Sunday, Dahal told the discontent party members that the return of the properties would be carried out without violating the rights of the current occupants.

Reacting to the suggestions made by the Baidya faction not to return the seized properties without first addressing problems of the landless, Dahal said the decision was made to assist in the peace and constitution-making processes.

The Maoist victims in Bardiya, meanwhile, have expressed dissatisfaction over the clash of opinions within the Maoist party over the return of the seized properties.

"We are not sure if we will ever get our land back," said Sajiwan Hamal of Manpurtapara VDC. The Maoists have captured more than 17 hectares of land owned by Hamal's family.

A committee consisting of representatives from the major three parties has been formed to facilitate the return of the properties in the district.

So far, the local administration has received 242 applications for the return of the Maoist-captured properties.
