india -Maoists gear up to counter Operation Green Hunt

GUMLA: Maoists have launched a Break Operation to check Green Hunt under the command of a new military wing christened as People Liberation Jharkhand Army, according to reports reaching from Sivil forest – the Maoist bastion in the district.
They also claimed to have seized some caps of the security forces during the encounter on Wednesday. The rebels have said they are not against police, but are against the system. Police are also sons of farmers and labourers like us, reports said. The hills of Jhariya – Kerakona and Luru Sakseri near Sivil area in Chainpur police station here boomed with the firings of mortars and bullets on Thursday when the security forces and Maoists were engaged in an encounter which continued till after noon.
Meanwhile, security forces could take out the body of the slain jawan Manoj Bakhla and injured Brajesh Licha and Vikram Ray from the dense forest before ferrying them in a helicopter to the state capital, 24 hours after the incident. DGP Rajiv Kumar, ADG CRPF V K Reddy, IG CRPF MV Rao, ADG (law and order) DK Pande, DIG Sheetal Oraon, JAP -I Commandant NK Singh and SP Jatin Narwal walked miles to reach the spot at Ghatodipa located in the Maoist zone where the BSF chopper landed. JAP Commandant Singh accompanied the body of the jawan and injured ones to the state capital. Perhaps for the first time cops like DGP and others reached the spot, said a police officer here.
“It was an evacuation operation during which security forces targeted the Maoists, which demoralized the latter, ” an officer said, adding some causalty has also been inflicted upon the rebels. Earlier, both Gumla SP and JAP Commandant reached Madwa village with a big contingent of security forces. An encounter between the security forces and Maoists started on Wednesday afternoon when four big contingents of security forces launched an operation from different sides to take on them, a police officer said.
It occurred between the first contingent of the forces comprising CRPF, JAP, Jharkhand Jaguar, CoBRA and the district police, he added. JAP – jawan Manoj Bakhla was killed while rest two Brajesh Licha and Vikram Ray sustained injuries. Maoist central committee member Arvindji has been camping with a huge number of Maoists in the Sivil area for over one and month, while the security forces too were stationed in the strategic locations in the forest region for the same period. Despite anti-Maoist operations launched by the forces, Maoists did not come across them. The residents of Munda and Oraon inhabiting Sivil hamlet with 120 household have left it and have taken shelter at the village school as the encounter erupted nearby forests on Thursday, according to reports.
