Discharged PLA warn of people’s war
KATHMANDU, Mar 3: Discharged members of the former People´s Liberation Army (PLA) close to UCPN (Maoist) have warned of launching yet another people´s war if government fails to address their demands. They have also demanded that the Supreme Court deliver its verdict on the petition filed against the government´s decision to provide each of the discharged PLA members Rs 200,000.
The SC has postponed the final verdict on the issue for March 20. “We don´t have patience to keep on hearing government´s assurances. We will be compelled to launch yet another people´s war if the government fails to address our demands,” said Lal Bahadur BK, chairman of the discharged PLA members. “We demand that the SC issue its verdict on time,” said BK. Similarly, discharged former PLA members led by Sagar Limbu, who is close to CPN-Maoist, have also warned that they will join the people´s war if their demands are not met. The discharged PLA members have demanded removal of the “disqualified” tag, among other things. In December last year, they had staged a month-long sit in at the UCPN (Maoist) headquarters in Perisdanda.

Nepal: Fresh civil war if parties ignore new Maoists, says Biplav
Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ of Nepal Communist Party-Maoist threatened of a fresh civil war if the four-party syndicate continued to ignore rest of the political parties represented in the erstwhile constituent assembly. Addressing a press meet organized by Revolutionary Journalists in Damauli of Tanahu District, March 2, 2013, said Biplav, “Along with other opposition parties our party too needs to be taken into confidence to resolve the political disputes.”
“None of the agreements reached between the four party leaders is acceptable to our party”, claimed Biplav. “The four party leaders have become the puppets of the foreign power centers as they have come to terms over forming an election government headed by the Chief Justice which is a proposition forcefully pushed by the foreign power centers.” Biplav’s declaration is dangerous. “To provide the role of the executive to the head of the judiciary is a conspiracy,” he said and added, “The four party deal shall see forceful public retaliation.”
