Manipur Maoist to boycott I-Day

The Maoist Communist Party Manipur (MCPM) Friday, while announcing a boycott to the upcoming Independence Day celebration of India on August 15, called upon the people stay away from participating in any celebration functions. While appealing not to participate in the Independence Day of India, a statement of the MCPM signed by its publicity secretary Comrade Nonglen Meetei raised a question to the people to ask themselves if there was any reason for taking part in the celebration, alleging that India is oppressing the people of the state in all fronts.
He alleged that authorities of the state government have been forcing students of various colleges and schools to take part in the Independence Day of India by imposing several conditions and by even providing uniforms and other facilities. If such practices were repeated, this time the outfit will not remain silent and the officials involved in such activities will be taught a lesson, the statement warned.
